Fabulous Friday - PARCC continues

This morning the students completed the Friday portion of the vocabulary sheet for our word of the week, temporary.  The, they chose which academic skill they wished to practice since it is "Free Choice Friday".  After watching the morning announcements, we switched for math.

Math began with a warm up providing practice with multiplication and fraction identification.  After that, we continued playing the game from yesterday, called Fraction Arrangements.  The students choose five number cards and then use four of them to create 2 fractions that when computed gets close to a target amount.  This involved many important skills including mental computation of fractions, creating equivalent fractions to add or subtract fractions, comparing fractions to target numbers, and reasoning.

Next, the children enjoyed lunch and outdoor recess.

When the children returned from recess we took the third part of the reading/language arts PAARC.  Once everyone was done, they ate snack.

After that, we played a couple of games of Kahoot to review the book Shiloh.

Then, we went over the vocabulary sheet for our word of the week, temporary, and solved the weekly puzzles.

While most of the class went to instrumental music practice, those left behind [played 2 Kahoot games to prepare for the PARCC math tests.
