Wonderful Wednesday

This morning the children completed the Wednesday portion of the vocabulary sheet for our word of the week, utilize.  After that, they completed an online Mad Libs type of activity to practice generating different parts of speech.  After the announcements, we switched for math.

Math began with a logic based computation warm up.  Then, we reviewed the homework from last week.  After that, we began our rotations.

During the small group lesson we represented the volume of composed solids when the excat measurements weren´t given, they had to be calculated based on other dimensions.  During math with a partner, the students played a Race to the Finish game which provided practice with calculating the volume of rectangular prisms.  Finally, during the technology portion, the students completed a session of Xtra Math and then practiced calculating the volume of solids using two online games.

In between the second and third rotations, the children enjoyued lunch and outdoor recess.

Math homework is posted in GC.

After math, we began our literacy block by reading chapters 34, 35, and 36.  As we read we practiced Stop*Think*Paraphrase.

Then, Mrs. Allaire visited us to do our third Digital Citizenship lesson and teach us how to use Flip Grid.

After she left we began an indepdent work block.  First, students completed the Wednesday portion of the reading skills paper.  Then, they worked on a follow up worksheet for chapters 34-36 of WTMMTM.  Next, they completed a punctuation of dialgue follow up, using the screen casted lesson.  FInally, they continued revising and editing their fiction story.

I was able to meeti with one reading group today.

Green:  We reviewed the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday sections of the reading skills page.  Then we discussed what happened at night in the twins´ village.

We ended the day with a wonderful assembly introducing us to the coutnries of South America through song.
