Thriving Thursday

The students began their day in art.

When we returned to class, they continued working in their small groups to publish their third grade newsletters.  I continued trouble-shooting as necessary.  The newsletters are coming along VERY nicely.  I am so proud of the results I have seen so far!!

After our math warm up, the students began using their survey question to gather data for their graphs.  Then they worked with their partners to compile the data and display it using a tally chart.  We will complete the task early next week.  There WILL be a quiz tomorrow!!!

Following lunch and recess the students worked on their electronic RRJ, in their small groups.  Today they drew diagrams of the tenement house as described in chapter 3 and renamed the boy's group (discussed in chapter 3), with an explanation of the new name.  Next, some groups shared their work, and all I can say is...WOW!!!!

Finally, we read and discussed chapter 4...and OH MY GOSH...it ended with a huge shock...grandmother asked David to help her find her father at the Chicago World's Fair!!

Two notes--I will be out tomorrow and Tuesday will be devoted to the students sharing their favorite books and completing the service project...nothing else!  I promised the class!!  :-)
