This morning the students completed the Friday portion of the vocabulary sheet for our word of the week, contain. Then, they chose which academic skill to practice since it is Free Choice Friday. After watching the morning announcements, we began MAP-R testing.
The MAP-R test is a the computer based, self-adjusting test, that is used to plan for and assess instruction. It is not reported on the report card.
After MAP-R, the students enjoyed lunch and outdoor recess.
After recess, I had to visit with the orthopedic surgeon, so Mrs. Mullins-Mitchell spent the afternoon with the children, in my place.
They began with a writing lesson where they read and wrote poems using sensory details, personification, and/or alliteration.
After that, the children read more chapters in their book club books, completed their day 5 job, and met with their peers to discuss the text. Then, they did a project to learn about why we celebrate Memorial Day. Finally, they continued working on a Flocabulary lesson about the original 13 colonies.
The children ended their day in math. First, the worked on a warm up involving geometry and reviewed the homework from last night. Then, they completed the week 7 formative. This will be graded and returned on Tuesday. Finally, the continued to work on the Coordinate Plane Picture project.
Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!
