This morning the students commented about their weekend on our morning message and then compelted the Monday portion of the vocabulary sheet for our new word of the week, clarify. After the annoucnements, we switched for math.
Math began with a warm up that reveiwed calculating the volume of a solid and writing a numerical expression to represent a statement. This helped the students prepare for the formative. Next the children took the week 7 formative covering calculating the volume of a solid and numeriocal expressions.
After that, the students enjoyed lunch and outdoor recess.
After recess, we reviewed the correct answers to the formative and I returned the graded papers. FInally, we played a quick game of Kahoot practicing identifying the solution to numerical expressions.
After math we began our literacy block. First, we spent some time reviewing the expectations and requirements for the STudent Treasures book (fiction story and illustration). After that, we continued reading chapters 43-45 of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.
Next, the students went to PE.
After PE, they ate snack and we reviewed the independent work tasks for this afternoon.
First, the students completed the Monday portion of their new reading skills paper. After that, they reviewed the slides in GC - Reading about first- and second- hand accounts of an event. Next, they worked on their final version of the fiction story and illustration for the Student Treasures book. Finally, those who had time, read about the Lost Colony of Roanoke and the theories of what mayu have happened.
As they worked, I met with a writing group and the 3 reading groups.
