Back to our normal routine...WOO HOO!
In math we named and identified mixed fractions. A mixed fraction is made up of a whole number and a fraction. For example, 2 1/2 is a mixed fraction. As promised, to the kids, there is no homework.
We began reading by choosing the famous person whom each student will research...very exciting!! Then we listed things we know about that person and questions we have. I modeled this first, using Michael Jordan. After that, each child shared who they are going to research, what they know and what questions they have about the person. Then we reviewed thick and thin questions, a lesson from last week, and discussed examples of each. We also used student examples to formulate thick questions that will guide our research. These include; How is the person famous? What was the person's childhood like? What struggles/challenges did the person face? What did the person accomplish?
Following lunch and outdoor recess we will have a class meeting. Then we will finish reading about and discussing the foundations and principles of our government.
Remember, the sound project is due next Friday!!!
